After dropping off a few loosies with Chicago staples such as King Louie, Chicago crooner Josh K has released his full length LP Black Balloon. It was definitely worth the wait. I’ve written about how stale r&b has become and how hard it is (personally) to stick with a track, let alone a full album. BB is a rare r&b project that was fun to go through. No track is skippable, and the production from C-sick had me at full attention. The entire project is fueled by beats from the likes of Cash Money AP, TheBeatPlug and a few more.

Josh’s vocal manipulation is pretty impressive as he goes back and forth between sincere singing and dark, drug laced vocals. The topics are diverse and rarely repetitive, so it’s hard to become bored. Give it a spin above.
