Uber Driver Turned Pop Star James Kahil Drops His Debut Solo Single In ‘Runaways’
Over the last 10 years, pop has grown incredibly stale. Radio is just blah. I may sound out-dated, but there is no denying the lack of innovativeness from these overplayed singles. Taking that into consideration, it’s hard for me to even press play on a chart topper. Even hip hop stations have taken a left turn,…

ZOTOWSKI Drops A Melodic Freestyle Over Young Thug’s ‘Daddy’s Birthday’
Whenever I see a new email from ZOTOWSKI, I automatically get hyped. Utilizing melody is nothing new in the SoundCloud universe, but Zo perfects it. He never overdoes the use of autotune, often incorporating Future’s honesty and vulnerability. Zo is less aggressive, and his vocals are as smooth as melted butter. Daddy’s Birthday Freestyle is…

SAVEMONEY’s Brill Drops An Impressive Visual + Single Off His Upcoming Debut Album
Most Chicagoans know about the SAVEMONEY collective. Their roster rolls deep, and no one in the squad makes subpar music. Group member Brill is no exception. The R&B vocalist has worked with some of the biggest artists in the city, including Taylor Bennett, Smino, and Logan. After a year of dropping loosies – Brill has…

Goody first came to my attention…

In early February, when my email wasn’t filled with submissions, I had time to do some SoundCloud digging. I found Josh Dillon’s LIMBO, and the rest is history. The track was his official debut on FFD, and dubbed “The best song you’ll hear all day.” The Waycool vocalist out of Canada has become a regular on the…

After A Placement on Lupe’s Newest Album, Alt-R&B Vocalist RXMN Is Back With A New Single
After a high profile placement on Lupe Fiasco’s DROGAS Light album, alt-r&b singer RXMN has come back with another treat in Tragic. Although the somewhat distorted vocals are gorgeous, the lyrics are braggadocios. The contrast makes for a compelling song, that is produced by himself & the legendary Banks The Genius (seriously, if you don’t know his…

KuuL Helped Me Believe Happiness Is Possible In His New Album ‘The Offering’ (Review)
With all of the lackluster music that has garnered millions of plays on SoundCloud, there are still gems, and New York’s KuuL is here to prove it. I featured him on my recent compilation tape, but it was no favor to him. It was more of a favor to me, as I’ve been a fan…

New York’s Don Mykel Stays True To His Roots On New Track ‘Return Of The Don’
It’s not hard to tell that NY rapper Don Mykel takes inspiration from legends like Tupac, Jay-Z and Nas. He incorporates their best assets into his music, most notably on his 2016 project G.O.D. Mykel: The Last Martyr. Legendary hip hop blogs such as hotnewhiphop and DJ Booth have given him his due respect, and other…
