Why Fi – Elysium (New EP)
You may be caught up in listening to Isaiah Rashad‘s new album, but we have another GREAT hip hop release on our hands in the form of Why Fi’s recent Elysium EP. Not only that, Isaiah and Why Fi are pretty similar artists in their beat selection, enjoyment of horns, flow and delivery. Fi even…

FXXXXY – Cartel Shawty #ANKCARTEL (New Mixtape + Extensive Review)
FXXXXY is a crawler. That’s the best way to describe his music. About a week ago we wrote on his out of this world track 20 Taliban. I knew EP Cartel Shawty #ANKCARTEL was coming out on the 31st but I never saw it on my SoundCloud feed and sadly I was too lazy to seek it…

Hodgy Beats – Dukkha (New Mixtape and Review)
There was a point in time that I thought Hodgy Beats was the best rapper on Odd Future, and suddenly, it seemed like he just disappeared.. Well Hodgy is back, and his new mixtape gets to go through the wrath of me! ANIME (4.7/5) The beat for ‘Anime’ is extremely chilled out! I’m talking laying…

Joe Trufant – Really Large Amounts (New Track)
I’m new to Joe Trufant (shout out to BluntIQ) but I’m loving this new track Really Large Amounts. Released literally 30 minutes ago, it’s a dreary instrumental with a juxtaposition of confidence in making that do-re-mi. There are similar sounding tracks out there, but I get the vibe this is EXACTLY the music Joe wants to…

Lo Village – Last Summer (EP) + ‘Lately’ Music Video
Genre’s clash and collide in Lo Village’s newest EP Last Summer. Kwess, Kane and Charles give their all on the extensive 8 track list. You can tell the joining of all 3 emcees was meant to be. They’ve also released an official music video to one of the songs on the album, Lately. Elevator (specifically The 88)…

bzkt. – We Are All Fucked (New Mixtape)
Double drops are much appreciated from artists I’ve always enjoyed which is exactly what we’ve gotten from Washington emcee bzkt. Project We Are All Fucked sounds darker, denser and more aggressive than an Earl Sweatshirt album whom I automatically thought of when pressing play (I’m sure I’m not the only one). The title is fitting, as it…

Ken Rebel – Indicted Mind (New Mixtape)
When Ken Rebel’s new album Indicted Mind came up on my Twitter feed I had high expectations. Maybe it was the cover art. Perhaps it was the tracklist which featured Nessly, Jazz Cartier, Rome Fortune and Lil Yachty. I try not to predict what a project or song sounds like based just off of names, artwork or…

Chrisjaan LeMann – Maniacal (New Mixtape + Review)
Alternative download. What a discovery! And it was hand delivered into my inbox. I am very confident in saying Chrisjaan LeMann’s new project Maniacal is very similar to Illmatic mixed with a little Kush & OJ. Before my readers freak out and call this comparison blasphemous, listen to the album. Similar, not the same. All…
