Zip Dot is a flowsfordays favorite – and one of the most consistent artists in the city. The MC makes some of the most underappreciated music in Chicago, but we’ve noticed his grind since his first submission. I always looked forward to something new from Zip as he has never fails to invigorate me through lively production and a hell of a lot of energy. Although many of his records have the same format, I had an inkling he could deliver in other ways. He proved me right on his latest track, The Chosen One. The Jewfy produced cut has Zip in deep reflection. He spits rapid-fire bars about faith, determination, and confidence in himself. The instrumental from Jewfy is a slower tempo soulful beat that keeps Zip in a more atmospheric space. I knew he had it in him, and with this display of versatility as a rapper, it’s only up from here.
