The Better Half (Best SoundCloud Songs From February 15th-28th)

Hello faithful readers. Welcome to our bi-monthly series The Better Halfflowsfordays will be curating a playlist showcasing the best SoundCloud releases in the last 15 days (give or take, depending on how many days are in the month.) Instead of perusing through your SoundCloud feed, you will now have a simple way to hear the best of the best in one easy to navigate playlist. All you have to do is press play.

We decided to keep this playlist pretty lean at 20 tracks. As always our favorite submissions are there, along with our latest premiere with Chicago favorties Plainro, 25th Hour and Christian Jalon. There is a healthy mix between Chicago music and music from from all over the country. We’ve included some instrumentals (as is now a tradition) along with my favorite record off that amazing THEY.album.

Supa Bwe came through with a crazy single produced by recently premiered + interview beat-smith JXHNSCXTT, and a highly anticipated single from Kweku Collins.

We hope you enjoy the playlist. We’ve done this series since our inception, so if you’d like to check out the rest either follow our SoundCloud page or click here.

I’m a little late on the February edition, (what else is new) but we’ve got some gems worth waiting for. Our premieres since the beginning of the month are here, along with our favorite submissions. We’ve also included songs from established guys like Chicago’s UG Vavy, (interview here) Smino, Twelve’Len and many more. I’d also like to note, 3 instrumental tracks are included as we aim to bring more of these to the blog.

We hope you enjoy the playlist. We’ve done this series since our inception, so if you’d like to check out the rest either follow our SoundCloud page or click here.

The Better Half (Best SoundCloud Songs From January 15th-31st)

Hello faithful readers. Instead of perusing through your SoundCloud feed, you will now have a simple way to hear the best of the best in one easy to navigate playlist. All you have to do is press play.

This edition is completely focused on independent releases. Most of these artists have under 1K followers, but are still making amazing music. We have a few picks from some of the material we’ve already posted, but most of these tracks will hopefully be new to your ears.

As always go through this playlist at your leisure and enjoy!

The Better Half (Best SoundCloud Songs From December 1-15th)

Hello faithful readers. Welcome to our bi-monthly series The Better Halfflowsfordays will be curating a playlist showcasing the best SoundCloud releases in the last 15 days (give or take, depending on how many days are in the month.) Instead of perusing through your SoundCloud feed, you will now have a simple way to hear the best of the best in one easy to navigate playlist. All you have to do is press play.

I’m a little late (my apologies) but I truly think this is our best playlist yet. I’ve listened to every track at least 10 times…quiet honestly these are some of the only songs I’ve been playing for the last two weeks. Only a few are submissions so we can provide you with totally new discoveries. As always we have focused on less “commercial” artists (besides the INSANE track from Young M.A, the freestyle from Vic Mensa and the crazy collab of Lil Bibby and 21 Savage.) I do have to mention M.A has recently landed in hot water with Chicagoians over her Philly’s Hot 99 freestyle, which I am very disappointed about. But EAT is still one of the craziest tracks I’ve heard all winter and it must be mentioned.

We’ve even peppered in a few instrumentals as well… I’m really getting into full albums of pure beats. There is a lot to discover…maybe we’ll cover that soon. One of my favorite tracks of the first half of December is the Supa Bwe, Fight Me + Sunny Woodz collaboration, No Napkins. That entire EP is complete fire and is highly recommended. It stands as some of my favorite work from Supa to date. There is a lot to come for Fight Me as member Ug Vavy told me about it a few weeks ago in a very candid interview

As always do your thing on the playlist. Play it straight through, give a few tracks that peek your interest a try, and if you are feeling a particular song, give the artist a follow. I have worked with a lot of these guys and they are all humble and talented.

The Better Half – (Best SoundCloud Songs From November 15th-30th)

Hello faithful readers. Welcome to our bi-monthly series The Better Halfflowsfordays will be curating a playlist showcasing the best SoundCloud releases in the last 15 days (give or take, depending on how many days are in the month.) Instead of perusing through your SoundCloud feed, you will now have a simple way to hear the best of the best in one easy to navigate playlist. All you have to do is press play.

Chicago hip hop is the main theme of this one. While we have hits outside of the city, the center is on the windy city. A lot of these have just been released (Iris Temple, Beach Jesus x Lasko, etc.) and some have been building buzz for a week (or so) now (Ajani Jones, The Cool Kids.)

I’m happy to report Baltimore’s Butch Dawson just posted a playlist of Basement Rap Radio (learn more here) which is quiet excellent. As always, skip around, play just one song, or go through the whole thing. Also, be sure to follow our official SoundCloud as we are constantly re-posting dope songs. We also post all of our sets on the page. Our next playlist will hit December 15th…so watch out for that. You can check out our previous bi-monthly playlists here.

Hello faithful readers. This edition is completely focused on “lesser known” artists. As we always say…putting labels on music isn’t too helpful. What we mean is; you won’t find the new Future and Drake joint or any cuts from the new Boogie Wit Da Hoodie EP (which, for the record, is one of my favorite EP’s of the year.) We decided to shine light on artists that deserve more plays and more followers. Hopefully we can help them out.

Quiet honestly we discovered some new favorites ourselves in these last 15 days. Guys like: Black Party, Jo$e Santos, Ajani Jones + so many more. They’re all up there, along with countless other gems. Some we’ve posted on the blog but we tried to stay away from that. Enjoy and follow us on SoundCloud for our reposts + all of our previous playlists.

The Better Half – (Best SoundCloud Songs From October 15th-31st)

Hello faithful readers. Welcome to our bi-monthly series The Better Halfflowsfordays will be curating a playlist showcasing the best SoundCloud releases in the last 15 days (give or take, depending on how many days are in the month.) Instead of perusing through your SoundCloud feed, you will now have a simple way to hear the best of the best in one easy to navigate playlist. All you have to do is press play.

This edition of The Better Half is our heftiest yet. As we always say feel free to skip around, play one, play 5 or play all!

The end of the month of October had so much to offer in the hip hop world. There was  tons of good stuff…it was hard not to include over 40 songs. Saba dropped his Bucket List project that more than delivered, and we provided our favorite song on the album (it was really hard to choose.)

New discovery TRAPJXHN had to be included along with that new flame from T-Pain and Lil Yachty (fight me on this one.) A lot of FFD favorites are on here dropping some of their best tracks of the year (Amon, Austin Fair, SQUiRE and more.)

Through friends, SoundCloud related tracks, and Twitter we’ve also gotten hip to a lot of new artists, so you may have not heard of some of these guys which is exactly the point of this series. So take a listen and let us know what you think.

Instead of perusing through your SoundCloud feed, you will now have a simple way to hear the best of the best in one easy to navigate playlist. All you have to do is press play.

The first 15 days of October had a lot of gems. Music journalist extraordinaire Neon Pajamas hosted a Chicago dream team of a track in Sunburns with Kweku Collins, Iris Temple, Jaro + San Soma. Side note – Neon Pajamas will be inviting artists over to Jaro’s studio on weekdays to make “cool songs.” This is the second drop; here is the first if you’re interested.

We also had to put Get Bigger, our favorite song from the new NxWorries album, on the playlist. It is such a great project and highly recommended.

Stunt Taylor remixed My Shit (from Boogie Wit Da Hoodie), Boogie Wit Da Hoodie posted a new track (!) and Common leaked a buzzing socially conscious song. There is much more to be explore on the playlist so dive in!

Also, follow flowsfordays official SoundCloud for updates on our favorite music.

The first half of this month came with a ton of new releases from industry vets such as Isaiah Rashad, Travis Scott and Young Thug among others. As usual we decided to focus on more independent artists (although we sprinkled in a few must listens). Press play and feel free to skip around.

The Better Half (Best SoundCloud Songs From August 15th-31st)

We have quiet a hefty offering for #2 as so many dope tracks came out in a mere 15 days. Some highlights include an amazing instrumental from $omebody (Martin $ky) a track from Alex Wiley featuring the water God Mick Jenkins, a HUGE offering from Raury, and TONS of tracks from lesser known artists that we have discovered either through submissions or our own digging. What an amazing end to August.

Feel free to skip through tracks; we just wanted to offer some diversity so there is something for everyone. Enjoy!
