Tye Motive$ – Diploma (New Mixtape)
Diploma EP is an excellent introduction to Milwaukee native Tye Motive$. He dropped some loosies about a year ago, but we’ve never gotten a full length from him. He majorly impresses in this project, winding feel good summer time tracks with trippy, drippy, and syrupy bangers. You can find drug related romantic mishaps throughout, but…

Glassic – Glassic EP
Wow. This album is crazy. Chicago producer Glassic released his self titled EP a little bit ago and it is flames. It features a host of artists including Solar Five, (who I did an interview with on my previous blog DGM) Will Is Chillin, Feeliicks and Luke G (among many others). I don’t know much about Glassic,…

24hrs – Right 4 YU (New Track)
Multi faceted 24hrs is no longer an “unknown”artist. He’s always done his music solo, holding the title of rapper, singer, DJ, and producer. Back in April of this year Pigeons & Planes featured them in their “Daily Discovery” article. Perhaps this created the buzz he needed, but it is his genre bending music that has a…

Thelonious Martin – Static (New Instrumental EP)
Thelonious Martin. A legend in the city of Chicago. Producer/artist/vinyl enthusiast; a vital part of the past, present and future of the hip hop culture. I don’t need to tell you how many artists he’s worked with. When he drops ANYTHING, I’m on it. Tonight, in anticipation for upcoming project Late Night Programming, KingThelonious decided to…

Yin Yang feat. 21 Savage – If I Wanted Too (New Track)
Co-signs are a blessing, for the most part. Drake has put more people on to artists such as Roy Woods and Partynextdoor (among others) with his tweets, shout outs and OVO station. The former’s music pales in comparison to the latter, with PND becoming a household name in the r&b/hip hop world. Yin Yang hasn’t exactly…

Wiz + Curren$y’s How Fly collab project made me believe in mixtapes
In 2008 I was a freshman at Northeastern Illinois University. I attended Carthage in Kenosha initially, hoping to major in social work. I despised Carthage; the choice to go there was heavily influenced by my guidance counselor from my snobby, upper class, private high school. I wanted diversity and I wanted a school I could…

TUT + Isaiah Rashad – G35 (New Track)
Well this is a treat. Coming off the success of 2015’s Preacher’s Son album, TUT drops G35 with previously quiet Isaiah Rashad. This is the second song from Isaiah in the last two days, so let’s hope we continue to get more content from him. TUT has also been rather absent as well, but both rappers…
