Plainro – LEAVES (New EP)
Planiro’s newest 4 track EP, LEAVES, has got me all chilly. It is the definition of down tempo chill wave with a mix of hip hop thanks to Ausar Bradley and Josi Green. Both added great features to a great EP. Make no mistake, Planiro is the star of the show with his breezy vocals…

Marko Stat$ – Free (Video)
Marko Stat$ has a lot to offer the Chicago hip hop scene and I hope heads catch on soon. Last year’s LP LOST SOULS is a must listen and gave me a nice introduction to the Uptown native. He just released his newest music video to track Free which is produced by frequent collaborator Aced Spade. Aced…

Lasko, the buzzing producer featured on Malcolm London’s OPIA (Exclusive Interview)
I listened to Chicago producer Lasko’s newest EP, Float, just a few days ago. I’m not sure how it went by me as I try to stay up to date on all things Chicago. What initially drew me to the diverse LP was Lasko’s production on the new Malcolm London project OPIA, which was our project of the…

Chandy – Rosa (produced by Netherfriends) (New Track)
Chandy and Netherfriends on a track? I’m in windy city heaven. These dudes have been working their asses off for what seems like forever and have made a huge name for themselves in Chicago. Chandy is part of group Beach Jesus which I have been swooning over since their beginnings. Don’t get it twisted, Chandy…

Tone Eyeful – The Glory (New Track)

New track The Glory is similar to the aforementioned, but even more lyrical and expressive. The flow is slowed down, but ever bar is enunciated. The…

Yung Ja$per – Purp (New Track)
I hope Chicago native Yung Ja$per blows the fuck up. New track Purp is enough to convince me he’s up next. The song is a strange, melodic and catchy piece of work that has a lot of flair. Those ad-libs though. Jas$per is different, a bit odd and excentric. Yesterday he started a Periscope stream about his tattoos.…

Devon Culbert – Pinot Noir (New Track)
Ok, I’m definitely with this. Devon Culbert went hard on new release Pinot Noir. He provided the lyrics to the track (which is a really good idea) on Rap Genius. Check it out here, you’ll be amazed at what you didn’t catch. He calls this some “real shit” which you’ll hear within the first few…

Top 5 ‘Underground’ Hip Hop Projects of The Week
This week was rich with releases. Tons of great music videos and tracks were put out into the public via SoundCloud, YouTube and the like. I for one noticed that tons of great, full, projects came out in the past 7 days. While some were HUGE releases, there were some that were less highlighted. The…
