Blaqrock, to put it simply, fucking rock. The Chicago band started out as a grassroots movement but has expanded way beyond the city. Why have they caught on? Take the start of their new visual for Kicks: ‘I got my new kicks/motherfuckers can’t say shit.’ Brash and rhyme heavy, these guys are playful as they are honed in on their skills, and as musicians are exceptional. They set up shop throughout the city, taking control of the various areas with harsh, fun, and jam heavy music. I wouldn’t be surprised if bystanders stood by in amazement, wishing their session was longer. I can’t recommend their music enough, so be sure to stream the track here.
