ZAK is in work mode. It’s grind season for the reinvented falsetto vocalist who has been putting out the best music we’ve heard from him thus far. At the beginning of May, he dropped a sinister record that showed his range and ability to effectively show his pain through abstract sounds.
However eccentric ZAK is, he manages to make alluring music that is as catchy as it is intriguing. His newest, Back Roads, has the same qualities of his previous tracks, but smoother. The beat (co-produced by Rosie Matsumoto) is impressive – referencing trap, electronic, alternative R&B, and hip hop.
The instrumental is as effective as the song’s message. Back Roads is a song dedicated to innovation, going again the grain, and refusing to follow trends in any environment. It serves as a reminder to ZAK, and a way of comforting ones that do things differently.
