The DMV hip-hop scene continues to impress me. That gritty, vintage hip-hop sound seems to be pouring out of the area, and I couldn’t be happier. Violent Violins from DMV veterans Born Unique and Pete Twist (aka Grime Lords) recently came to my attention, and they completely bodied that sound. Violent Violins is off their highly anticipated album Grime Lords which is (fingers crossed) coming soon. The production from Pete was a shocker – he incorporated so many sounds, samples, instruments and rhythms that complimented Born Unique’s dizzying bars. The black and white visual (directed by Twon Dosa) brings to life a vivid storyline illustrating the duo’s signature & vintage dirty sound. I’ll be checking for the release of Grime Lords – and I highly recommend you do the same.
