Chicago’s Phor Drops His Most Mature Project Yet In “Butterfly”

There’s no doubt about it – 2017 belongs to Phor. (Deep breath) The Chicago native stars in the show Black Ink Chicago, has one of the hottest records in the city, has been remixed by Chicago legends Twista, Bump J, and Lil Durk, is a regular on WGCI and Power 92, and recently shared the stage with the likes of Moneybagg Yo and G Herbo. It’s been a crazy year for the talented MC, but he rarely stops working. Case in point his newest and most mature project yet – Butterfly. The title is a metaphor for his metamorphosis as a man and an artist.

The 14 track album is Phor at his most vulnerable, using his talent on the mic to give us a deep understanding of his character. Not only that, he sounds more comfortable than ever, using melodic tones and digestible lyrics to create his most accessible LP yet. If you haven’t heard Chitown, you’ll get to on Butterfly, and equally enjoyable is the production by Phor’s longtime friend Lehday who is easily one of the most versatile producers this side of the Windy City.

Butterfly stands as one of the best projects of the year and must be digested in one sitting. Phor has come into his own this year, and 2018 looks to be even more prosperous.
