Along with the change of moniker is a change of pace in his music. SZA’s CTRL is one of the best projects of the year, and a host of producers have remixed some of the songs off the LP. Many miss the mark, and some barely change the original instrumental.
Today, Hanakatoba has thrown track #6, The Weekend, on its head. He builds the ThankGod4Cody beat, using SZA’s echoing vocals until the monumental drop. The mix continues on with inspiration from old school house and disco. Hankatoba has been gracious enough to offer this as a free download on BandCamp, so take advantage of this while you can.
