L.A. VanGogh knows how to croon over a slow jam and still sound aggressive. His newest track, Changed My Number Part 2, starts off with the artist telling a girl that loves him he isn’t afraid to switch his number on her. But, there is more to the story. The most important line: “I changed my number just so I could call you” is essential to understanding the theme of the song…switch ups in relationships, pain, and addiction.

In 3 minutes time we learn about a complex romantic relationship that I’m sure many can relate to. L.A. is gearing up to drop his tape Everything Is Subjective soon which is highly anticipated in my book just off the strength of this single. Doesn’t hurt that he dropped a critically acclaimed compilation album just last year.

Also: This cover art is bonkers.
