ILLECT signee James Gardin has been dropping monumental hits this year. From May’s Complaining to July’s Groove – he has perfected the art of fusing funk, soul, pop, and hip hop. All of his hard work has paid off in a HUGE way. ICONIC, his latest track with Terem, was selected as the theme song for Tommy Hilfiger’s latest  collaboration with Lewis Hamilton.

James’ music has now reached a totally new audience. The track has been heard on the runway, written up in top fashion websites such as Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, InStyle, Marie Claire, Vogue and more. Perhaps this is a co-sign of sorts, but this big look couldn’t have been possible without the quality of the song itself. ICONIC is full of braggadocios rhymes, confidence, old school drum patters, and pop oriented vocals. I’m so happy for James and ILLECT. This is only the beginning, I’m sure.

James summed it up well:

“When I originally wrote the song I wanted to make something that could be an anthem that with some sort of universal affirming message. I had the idea of it being used for licensing when when I was writing so I wanted it to be relatable to a large audience while still being in my voice.”
