While I won’t sit here and bore you with another version of, “Mumble Rap Is Whack” for the umpteenth time, there is something a bit serene about hearing a substantial series of bars strung together perfectly in harmony. No matter how much I love, “New Patek” & Lil’ Uzi Vert’s enigmatic style, bars are still king. An upstart rapper who seems to get this, is Compton native RedAngel, who checks in with his lyrically-packed single, “Opportunity.”
Produced by Steelz, “Opportunity” is long by today’s standards of 2-minute-teasers, But is worth every second of the listen. Red impressively syphons through different cadences like a man trying on shoes at Footlocker, as he reflects on many early struggles. With a melodic production to compliment Red’s flow, “Opportunity” is a solid introduction into the Chicago to Compton rapper if you’ve never heard of him.
