Music is in one of the best places it’s been in decades. Detractors may try and say that, “mumble rap” has created a sub-genre not worthy of the Hip-Hop title, but I disagree. Right now we have the most parity in the genre, perhaps ever and it’s created a course of things you can listen to.
One of those is a sound being brought on by Long Beach native Mikey PX who’s paranoia music has developed some more confidence on his new EP, Since You’re Here Now. Coming in at 5 tracks, the project serves as the perfect appetizer to whatever main course PX is cooking up for the near future. Each song stands as an example of what he’s been working on, & improving.
On, “When The Moon Blue,” you see Mikey addressing haters and doubters alike with motivated & inspired sounding cadences complimented by gut-punching lines like, “Look at the moon, & get to howling/ & tell that label, to keep they hundred thousand.”
Other standouts include, “Chanel,” “This High Forever” & “Upset,” the Ron-Ron produced party anthem that sees Mikey & fellow Murda Business artist, Bambino trading bars over the bouncy west coast production.
Check out, Since You’re Here Now below and be sure to keep an eye on Mikey PX.
