I’ve been craving a beat tape for months now and I’ve finally gotten my fix. Instrumental projects come a dime a dozen, and so many sound the same. Chicago’s x-ray is far from a typical producer, best shown in his new project r e c o l l e c t i o n. The 7 track tape is a collection of beats made from the past 8 months which tell the story of his coming of age in instrumental form. Vocal samples are taken from old school music and snippets of TED talks in a soulful manner, all related to his own life.
