Boston’s M-Dot Made Me Shed Tears On His Heartbreaking Visual to “Chrissy”

In the last few years, there haven’t been many rap songs that have touched me deeply. Obviously, the rap game has changed, for better or for worse, and a turn-up, and often degrading sub-genre has emerged and prospered. M-Dot is rooted in the hip hop I grew up listening to, best shown on his latest double LP ‘EgO anD The EneMy, The entire album is full of gems, but what blew me away was the song, Chrissy. My introduction to it came in the below visual as a submission.

The 4-minute video is a back and forth, mostly taking us through a woman’s struggles to find love and make her pain stop. We are taken through her alcohol and drug abuse, prostitution, participation in porn, and a heartbreaking ending that I sadly saw coming. M-Dot is connected to her in a deep way, as the Don Chito directed visual switches to him telling her story with passion, and pain. At the end you’ll see him trying to comfort her – portraying his connection to the story that perhaps happened to a loved one. This is the 7th video released off of ‘EgO anD The EneMy,’ and after taking some time to recover from Chrissy, I immediately went back to his other visuals. They are all done with precision, showing different sides to M’s personality, but always proving how skilled he is as an MC.

EgO is full of solid production from legendary beatsmiths such as Hi-Tek, Large Professor, Marley Marl, Buckwild, Marco Polo, 7L, !llmind, and many more. You can stream it here, and even purchase it as a physical copy here. Please watch Chrissy below, as it will pull on your heartstrings and perhaps make you appreciate the blessings you have in your life.
