For long time readers of the blog you may remember our interview with Milwaukee native Rob Hicks a few months ago. At that time he had only released one song, 3 Minutes of Paradise, (which has since been taken down) but there was so much potential there that I had to learn more about him. He sent me an early link to his debut single which just happens to be the song above. Synergy is an amazing way to start off his long prepped foray into the hip hop world.
The song was actually premiered on Earmilk which you can check out here. The article revealed that his debut project, an EP titled Paradise in Hell, will be dropping in the spring of 2017. I can’t wait.
I highly recommend you read the interview, but if you want to get to the meat of it, here are two Q&A’s that will introduce you to the artist that is sure to have a huge 2017.
What artists have you worked with and why hasn’t it been released?
I’ve worked with a ton of people, especially this year. I just wrapped up a song with the homie Ted Park a few nights ago. He’s become one of my favorite new artists honestly. I did some stuff with Trapo who’s killing shit earlier this year. That’ll be out soon. Let’s see who else ? Sincerely Collins. He was actually the first guy in the industry that I worked with. So I’ll always have love for the homie out of Phoenix. Many more tho, I don’t wanna say too much again (laughs.) There’s really no other reason why these tracks aren’t out though except for timing. Like I feel when we release all of these in the coming weeks and months, that will be the perfect time for them to surface.
How long have you been prepping for your music career? What have you done to gear up for this new chapter of your life?
Professionally, only a few years. Like I’ve been addicted to writing music since I was like 9 years old, but I didn’t honestly wanna pursue a career in it until I was like 20 or 21. And even then I enjoyed making music, but didn’t think making an actual career out of it would be feasible. Over the course of time that changed. I’ve done a ton of research on the industry and how it actually works, and it’s helped me get mentally prepared for everything that’s to come.
