Yung Stakks – In My Own Lane (New Mixtape + Review)

In June of 2015 Fakeshoredrive.com posted track Stakk Money from Chicago artist Yung Stakks. I had heard it around the city, a few snippets, some talk and hearsay. At that point I knew it was finally time to press play. And I did exactly that. It automatically became my most played song that summer; I enjoyed everything about it.

He released a very overlooked project Off My Chest shortly after the Stakk Money single which confirmed my belief that he could make a long form album. Since then he’s released TONS of music videos; he definitely knows how to build buzz for an upcoming EP; In My Own Lane. There are TONS of critically acclaimed producers on this project including Sonny Digital, ChasenDough, 808 Mafia, Zaytoven and many more. Stakks has upped the ante quiet a bit, even getting a feature from G Herbo.

We got this one a few days ago and I’ve already gone through it quiet a few times. Every song was composed with the utmost of care; uptempo beats that are diverse but stay close to the sonic theme of the album. It may not be apparent right away but Stakks is an incredible rapper. He has more than just that turn up mentality; almost out spitting himself as the album progresses. Just listen to track #4, Diddy. I beg of you. If that doesn’t make you a fan of Stakks…

He’s already put out a video for intro track Ignorant. The work ethic is real.
