The Boy Illinios – Ruling Class (Video)

Ruling Class is my absolute favorite track from The Boy Illinois up until this point. I knew the video dropped a little bit ago as I follow a lot of media sites, but I wanted to wait until I got flowsfordays up and running before I posted it. Not only is the video tight, the entire project it’s on (Dusable) is arguably his best work to date.

As is said in the video description on YouTube, the song was inspired by Nas and Lauryn Hill’s single “If I Ruled The World” released in 1996. It’s quiet a feat to recreate a song as monumental as that joint effort, but Boy Illinois does it well.

There is a prequel to this track in Dusable’s sequence that ties in very well to Ruling Class titled Blackmale. There are some big name features on this one in the form of Twista and Trae The Truth who, combined, create a classic. I highly recommend you giving the album a spin and pay special attention to these two cuts which are at the tail end of the project.
